The Q-Pyramid
A powerful set of tools – the Q-Pyramid and Overlay, connect the four opportunities for questioning to the LRP Graphic Organizer. Students and teachers can use the Q-Pyramid to support moving the learning and the learner forward wherever they engage in the Logical Reasoning Process. The Q-Pyramid is arranged with the LRP Graphic Organizer serving as the base of the pyramid while the faces correspond to the appropriate opportunities for questioning. The general set of questions for each of the four opportunities that exist within the work of the task are included on each face.
An overlay is provided to facilitate creating task-specific questions. Question stems, verbs, and descriptors are provided. Teachers and students simply fill in the question with task-specific content. Teachers can use the Overlay to differentiate instruction through the deliberate and thoughtful preparation of questions, especially the reflection and extension ones. Students can use the Overlay to create questions to help move their learning forward. Even the advanced student, who is often neglected, can now be challenged with authentic extensions instead of being punished by simply being given more things to do.
